Volleyball Recap: Elmwood-Murdock Takes a Loss

Elmwood-Murdock suffered their biggest loss since September 18th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Lincoln Christian Crusaders. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Crusaders recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While Elmwood-Murdock was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Lincoln Christian's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 25-22.

Annie Backemeyer paced Elmwood-Murdock's offense, picking up seven kills. Backemeyer got some help from Lucy Backemeyer and her 20 assists. Finally, Annie was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Lincoln Christian can attribute much of their success to Maci Pittenger, who had 13 digs and six assists.

Elmwood-Murdock's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Lincoln Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.

Elmwood-Murdock has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Sterling on the 9th. As for Lincoln Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Lincoln Lutheran on the 9th.
