Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Miller

Miller had won four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 16-4 to make it five. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Stockton Tigers 3-1. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 7-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

As for Stockton, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 8th.

For Stockton's part, Ellie Pettit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. Pettit has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gracie Abercrombie was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Miller does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stockton, they will head out on the road to take on Fair Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
