Softball Recap: Greenfield-Central Beats Shelbyville for Their Fifth Straight Win

The matchup between Greenfield-Central and Shelbyville on Monday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Cougars came out on top against the Golden Bears by a score of 13-8. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Savvanna Riall, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Leilani Forshey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Greenfield-Central lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Greenfield-Central pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Shelbyville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.

Looking ahead, Greenfield-Central will face off against Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shelbyville, they will square off against Cathedral at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
