Football Recap: East River Takes a Loss

East River had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it eight. They were outmatched by the Innovation Bulls and fell 36-7. The Falcons were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

As for Innovation, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 29 points or more this season.

Innovation's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Moore led the charge by picking up 63 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 34 yards and one touchdown. Ralph Taylor was another key back, gaining 145 total yards and a touchdown.

Coming up, East River will square off against Melbourne at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th. The Falcons' defense better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 38.7 points per game this season. As for Innovation, after each having a week off, they and Colonial will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Grenadiers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
