Basketball Game Preview: Athenian Owls vs. Marin Academy Wildcats + How To Watch

The Athenian Owls will be taking part in a tournament against the Marin Academy Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Athenian took a loss when they played away from home back in November, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Cristo Rey De La Salle as they made off with a 61-40 victory. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Eshaan Anand and Koen Feyock were among the main playmakers for Athenian as the former posted 19 points and the latter scored 18 points. That's the most points Anand has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brandon Yoo, who put up nine points.

While Marin Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 73-45 victory over Gateway. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The win got Athenian back to even at 1-1. As for Marin Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Athenian came out on top in a nail-biter against Marin Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 77-75. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
