Baseball Recap: Pine Forest Gets the Win

While Pine Forest's win against Triton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Hawks on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since February 26th.

Ryan Temple made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pine Forest let J.J. Watson and Jayhlen Brown run wild. Watson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Brown went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Brown a new career-high.

Pine Forest has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Triton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Pine Forest has already played their next matchup, a 4-0 win against Overhills on the 8th. As for Triton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Harnett Central on the 9th.
