Baseball Game Preview: South Putnam Eagles vs. Northview Knights

South Putnam is 1-9 against Northview since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

South Putnam's last matchup with Greencastle could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Saturday. The Eagles lost 14-4 to the Tiger Cubs. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Eagles, who fell 10-8 when the teams last met back in May of 2023.

South Putnam saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Mullin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Mullin is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 0-6 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Northview suffered their biggest loss since April 15th on Friday. They came up short against Marshall, falling 10-1.

South Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Northview, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

South Putnam might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Northview when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
