Basketball Recap: Amanda Elzy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Amanda Elzy is still winless after their contest against Greenwood on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bulldogs. The matchup was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Loss or not, Amanda Elzy got some senior leadership from Derek Parker and Demarcus Brown. Parker posted 17 points, while Brown earned 14 points. That was a full 38.6% of the Panthers' points, marking the third time in a row Parker has had more than a third of the team's points.

Zytavion Jackson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards for Greenwood. Jackson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ralphael Summerville, who scored six points and six rebounds.

Amanda Elzy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Greenwood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amanda Elzy will venture away from home to face off against Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 65.2 points per game this season. As for Greenwood, they will take on Edwards at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
