Soccer Game Preview: Wylie vs. Rowlett

Wylie is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Rowlett is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wylie Pirates will host the Rowlett Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Wylie didn't have quite enough to beat Naaman Forest and fell 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 148th in Texas, while the Rangers are ranked 407th in Texas).

CRISTIAN AVILES and ZACH ALSAHLI scored both of Wylie's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Rowlett entered their game against Garland on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Rowlett fell just short of Garland by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Eagles seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in January.

Wylie's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Rowlett, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.
