Basketball Recap: Spearville Starts off Right with Win over Bucklin

Spearville had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their match with ease, bagging a 75-44 win over the Bucklin Red Aces. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Spearville was led to victory by Ian Melendez and Aydin J Ruiz. Melendez went 9 for 14 on his way to 23 points, while J Ruiz went 7 of 14 en route to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Alcala, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points along with six boards and five steals.

Spearville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 85-68 win against Macksville on the 10th. As for Bucklin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-39 loss against St. John on the 9th.
