Preview: Wardlaw Academy Patriots vs. Our Lady of the Rosary Lions
The Wardlaw Academy Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Our Lady of the Rosary Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wardlaw Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Wardlaw Academy beat Richard Winn Academy 36-32. The victory was just what Wardlaw Academy needed coming off of a 55-17 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Our Lady of the Rosary, who are still winless after their ninth game. They took a serious blow against Laurens Academy on Tuesday, falling 46-9. While losing is never fun, Our Lady of the Rosary can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Laurens Academy is ranked 78th).
Wardlaw Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Our Lady of the Rosary, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything went Wardlaw Academy's way against Our Lady of the Rosary in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as Wardlaw Academy made off with a 42-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wardlaw Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
