Basketball Recap: Katelyn Poulsen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Layton

Weber's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Fremont on Tuesday. The Weber Warriors skirted past the Layton Lancers 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since December 3, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Weber to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katelyn Poulsen, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. Poulsen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradey Schiffman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taya Pace, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Pace a new career-high. Lindsey Thurgood was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Weber's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-7. As for Layton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Weber didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-36 loss against Davis on the 24th. As for Layton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 50-36 defeat against Fremont on the 24th.
