Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jasen Lopez and Isaac Mothersill Lead Chaminade-Madonna to Victory

It's playoff time, and Chaminade-Madonna had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Westminster Academy Lions 75-72. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Chaminade-Madonna has posted since January 15th.

Leading Chaminade-Madonna to victory were Isaac Mothersill and Jasen Lopez. Mothersill went 9-for-17 to rack up 23 points and three steals, while Lopez dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Lopez also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Giuliani Blaise was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Chaminade-Madonna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Westminster Academy still got an impressive performance from Alexander Lloyd, who went 12-for-29 en route to 44 points and five boards. Lloyd's evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Branden Sharpe, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Chaminade-Madonna has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Westminster Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-12.

Chaminade-Madonna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-64 victory against Westminster Christian on the 12th. As for Westminster Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 85-63 win against Hialeah Educational Academy on the 12th.
