Soccer Game Preview: Orosi vs. Sunnyside

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Orosi face off against the Sunnyside at 5:00 p.m. on Friday... Orosi's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Orosi's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged El Diamante out 1-0. The Cardinals' winning goal came courtesy of Jonathan Nemecio.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sunnyside, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Fresno with a sharp 3-0 victory on Wednesday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Warriors are ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sunnyside's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Orosi, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8-2.

Orosi came up short against Sunnyside in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, falling 2-0. Can Orosi avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
