Baseball Recap: Union Red Hawks vs. Greenville Yellow Jackets
Union had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-15 to make it ten. They fell just short of the Greenville Yellow Jackets by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Red Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.
As for Greenville, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 17th.
For Greenville's part, Brady Beckett spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Beckett has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sullivan (Sulli) Witt was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
While Union had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
