Baseball Game Preview: McArthur Mustangs vs. Canterbury Cougars

The McArthur Mustangs will take on the Canterbury Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. McArthur has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with eight straight losses, while Canterbury will come in with three straight victories.

Thursday just wasn't the day for McArthur's offense. They lost 12-0 to Everglades on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Canterbury got themselves on the board against Belen Jesuit on Thursday, but Belen Jesuit never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Wolverines.

Belen Jesuit's batters probably weren't too happy with JT Huether, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up a single walk). Huether has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anthony Meady was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Adams Mejia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

McArthur's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Canterbury, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.

McArthur was able to grind out a solid win over Canterbury in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 10-6. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
