Baseball Recap: St. Rita Comes Up Short

DePaul College Prep hit St. Rita with a seven-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Jaden Rivera and Colin Quinn did some serious damage despite the final result: Rivera got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI, while Quinn went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Quinn is becoming a predictor of St. Rita's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 9-15 when he doesn't). Peyton Panozzo was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

St. Rita dropped their record down to 11-16 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for DePaul College Prep, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 21-8 record.

St. Rita didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-9 victory against Loyola Academy on the 12th.
