Basketball Recap: Banner County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Karlye Dittbenner and Kyrie Roldan

Banner County was the 37-28 winner over Creek Valley when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Banner County Wildcats came up short against the Creek Valley Storm on Monday, falling 37-13. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Banner County's loss came despite strong showings from Kyrie Roldan and Karlye Dittbenner. Roldan posted eight points along with 11 boards and four steals, while Dittbenner scored no points. That was a full 61.5% of Banner County's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Banner County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Creek Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Fraass, who put up ten points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Fraass a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Karsyn Burgman, who had eight points.

Banner County's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Creek Valley, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-12.

Banner County will challenge Minatare at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Banner County is facing Minatare at the right time seeing as Minatare is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Creek Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-24 defeat against Caliche on the 4th.
