Basketball Game Preview: Vienna Eagles vs. Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats

Vienna and Anna-Jonesboro are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Vienna Eagles will take on the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vienna has 11 straight victories, Anna-Jonesboro has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Vienna can't be too worried about heading out to take on Anna-Jonesboro: they just beat Sesser-Valier/Waltonville at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Vienna came out on top against Sesser-Valier/Waltonville by a score of 57-47 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Anna-Jonesboro came up short against Frankfort on Thursday and fell 58-46.

Vienna pushed their record up to 24-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Anna-Jonesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-19.

Everything came up roses for Vienna against Anna-Jonesboro in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 75-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vienna since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
