Preview: Horizon Huskies vs. Cactus Shadows Falcons

Horizon is 4-0 against Cactus Shadows since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Horizon Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cactus Shadows Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Horizon is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cactus Shadows in Arizona (Horizon is ranked 14th, while Cactus Shadows is ranked 60th).

Horizon can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. Everything went their way against Higley as Horizon made off with a 28-6 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Horizon.

Anthony Segura was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Bodie Zamorano and his 125 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Horizon's victory.

Horizon's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 4.5 times. Leading the way was Segura and his two sacks.

Meanwhile, Cactus Shadows' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 32-21 to Notre Dame Prep.

Despite the loss, Cactus Shadows saw an underclassman step up: Donivan Dixon threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also rushed for 83 yards. Another player making a difference was Noah Brouse, who picked up 66 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Horizon's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cactus Shadows, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5.

We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Horizon has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 369.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Cactus Shadows struggles in that department as they've been even better at 378.5 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.

Horizon took their victory against Cactus Shadows in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 by a conclusive 49-25. Will Horizon repeat their success, or does Cactus Shadows have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
