Basketball Recap: Campbell Hall Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

On Tuesday, the Campbell Hall Vikings beat the Grant Lancers 73-61. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Lancers are ranked 472nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grant's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was RONALD MERRILL, who posted 12 points. MERRILL has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Kai Setareh was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Campbell Hall and bumps their season record up to 14-8. As for Grant, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Campbell Hall will venture away from home to take on Viewpoint at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grant, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Hollywood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Grant is facing North Hollywood at the right time seeing as North Hollywood is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
