Basketball Game Preview: Southside Seahawks vs. Ayden - Grifton Chargers

Southside is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Ayden - Grifton a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Monday. The Southside Seahawks will take on the Ayden - Grifton Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Southside is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Croatan on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Southside took a blow against Croatan, falling 81-36. The Seahawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-22.

Meanwhile, Ayden - Grifton opened the new year with a less-than-successful 70-61 loss to Greene Central. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (55), the Chargers still had to take the loss.

Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Ayden - Grifton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6.

Southside took a serious blow against Ayden - Grifton in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 87-42. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Southside was down 44-23.
