Recap: Bell County Bobcats vs. Magoffin County Hornets
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Bell County Bobcats walked away with it. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 62-27 victory over Magoffin County. Bell County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six contests by 21 points or more this season.
Daniel Thomas was his usual excellent self, rushing for 333 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per carry. Thomas hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for 11 straight games. Blake Burnett was another key contributor, throwing for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes.
The victory (which was Bell County's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Harlan County and 4-7 Magoffin County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.6% over those games). As for Magoffin County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Bell County will head out on the road to face off against Belfry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Belfry is on a three-game streak of home wins, Bell County a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Magoffin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
