Basketball Recap: St. Rose Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Rose can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 54-53 to the Red Bank Catholic Caseys. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Caseys this season, with their most recent defeat being a 50-48 loss two weeks ago.

Addy Nyemchek was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points in addition to eight assists and eight rebounds for Red Bank Catholic. The game was Nyemchek's third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Christina Liggio, who shot 67% from the field on her way to 15 points and seven boards.

St. Rose's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Red Bank Catholic, the victory was the 22nd in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-4.

St. Rose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Red Bank Catholic, they will take on Paul VI on Monday. Paul VI will roll in looking for their 27th straight win, something Red Bank Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
