Softball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Providence, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Musketeers fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Musketeers have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Bracie Jackson put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Sidney Patton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.

Eastern now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Providence, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Eastern has already played their next game, a 20-0 defeat against West Washington on the 17th. As for Providence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Clarksville on the 21st.
