It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Apex had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats as they made off with an 11-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Audrey Mulauski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Leah Kendall was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Lauren McMahon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Apex and bumps their season record up to 13-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for East Chapel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Looking ahead, Apex will challenge Garner at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Chapel Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
