Basketball Recap: Johns Creek Takes a Loss

Johns Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 61-47 bruising from the Alcovy Tigers.

When it comes to explaining why Johns Creek lost, don't look at Grace Landeck. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points and seven assists. That was a full 46.8% of Johns Creek's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Savannah Jenkins was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven boards and four steals.

Landeck wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Johns Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Janae Hutcherson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alcovy, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine steals. Hutcherson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryhana Grier, who had seven points and 12 boards.

Johns Creek's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Alcovy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.

Johns Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-36 victory against Stephens County on the 27th. As for Alcovy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-44 defeat against Union Grove on the 21st.
