Softball Recap: Henderson County Takes Down Ranked Marshall County

Henderson County faced Marshall County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Colonels never let the Marshals get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Colonels have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Maggie Grogan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylin Risley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Henderson County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Henderson County's victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Marshall County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 28-5.

Looking ahead, Henderson County will venture away from home to challenge Union County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Colonels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Marshall County, they will challenge Tecumseh at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Braves will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Marshals surely won't give up without a fight.
