Basketball Recap: Caldwell Takes a Loss

Caldwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the River Pilots, falling 57-33. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-20 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Caldwell lost, don't look at Breighlee Moracco. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points. That was a full 39.4% of Caldwell's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Laynie Sidwell was another key player, putting up five points.

Caldwell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for River, they moved to 5-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caldwell will challenge Frontier at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for River, they will face off against Shadyside at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
