Basketball Recap: Lake Creek Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Lake Creek duked it out withCollege Station on Friday. The Lake Creek Lions took down the College Station Cougars 70-54. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Lake Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Holden Caltabiano out in front who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points along with five assists and three steals. That's the most steals Caltabiano has posted since back in November of 2024. Caden Puckett was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 15 points.

Caltabiano wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Lake Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lake Creek has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-15 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 37.9% in those games and 26.7% outside of them. As for College Station, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-12.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Brenham the next time they take the court. Lake Creek will head out to face Brenham at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while College Station will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th.
