Basketball Recap: Morrill Takes a Loss

Morrill managed to keep up with Lingle-Fort Laramie until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Morrill Lions lost 57-37 to the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Doggers: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Morrill lost, don't look at Brooklyn Brown. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 15 on her way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Lingle-Fort Laramie was led to victory by Skyla Wunder and Charlotte Speckner. Wunder dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten steals, while Speckner dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Wunder has been hot for a while, having posted five or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordynn Speckner, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Morrill's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Morrill has already played their next contest, a 49-33 defeat against Gordon-Rushville on the 31st. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 37-32 victory against Southeast on the 30th.
