Baseball Recap: McCallie Takes a Loss

McCallie lost against Baylor back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Blue Tornado fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 8-7. The Blue Tornado have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McCallie got a good showing from Nathan Eastman, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Eastman has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Chandler Jones and Mateo Rodriguez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jones scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Jake Copeland was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

McCallie's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Baylor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

While McCallie had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
