Basketball Recap: West Limestone Takes a Loss

West Limestone was the 40-38 winner over Tanner when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The West Limestone Wildcats fell just short of the Tanner Rattlers by a score of 50-47 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since January 25, 2024.

Tanner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elyjah Jones out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in rebounds. Matthew Fletcher was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight boards and seven assists.

West Limestone has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Tanner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

West Limestone will head out to challenge St. John Paul II at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. West Limestone is facing St. John Paul II at the right time seeing as St. John Paul II is stuck on a 22-game losing streak. As for Tanner, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 81-45 loss against East Limestone on the 25th.
