Basketball Recap: Southside Christian Takes a Loss

Southside Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The match between them and the Powdersville Patriots didn't end well, with the Southside Christian Sabres falling 55-37. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-21 last Wednesday.

Powdersville was led to victory by Makayla Assemian and Caroline Sweet. Assemian went 10 of 14 on her way to 21 points and seven boards, while Sweet went 7 for 12 to rack up 18 points and five assists. Assemian's evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Macy Caldwell, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds.

Southside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Powdersville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Southside Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Powdersville, they will be playing at home against Wren at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Powdersville has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three contests.
