Basketball Preview: Union Local Jets vs. Buckeye Trail Warriors
The Union Local Jets will be playing at home against the Buckeye Trail Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Local has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 500 points over their last seven matches.
Even though St. Clairsville scored an imposing 76 points on Friday, Union Local still came out on top. Union Local had just enough and edged the Red Devils out 79-76. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Union Local has posted since December 14, 2023.
Union Local's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Easton Ditzler, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Alex Moore, who scored 17 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Buckeye Trail stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 70-48 margin over Tuscarawas Central Catholic. Given Buckeye Trail's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Saints are ranked 686th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Union Local has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Buckeye Trail, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Union Local strolled past the Warriors in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 52-36. Does Union Local have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
