Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Area Falcons vs. Edgewood Warriors

Jefferson Area and Edgewood are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Falcons will take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson Area will be strutting in after a win while Edgewood will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Jefferson Area made easy work of Conneaut and carried off an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Logan Saksa was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Tate Hudson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Jefferson Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conneaut only managed seven hits.

Meanwhile, Edgewood came up short against Madison last Wednesday, falling 15-4. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Blue Streaks: they've now lost four in a row.

Zane Naylor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Jefferson Area, their record now sits at 6-7.

Jefferson Area couldn't quite finish off Edgewood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 15-13. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
