Gonzaga joins Top 25 after beating DeMatha in WCAC championship game.

The best football game on Sunday didn't involve the NFL. That honor belonged to the WCAC championship game.

Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) is one of two new teams to join the Top 25 after pulling off a miracle 46-43 win over DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.). The Eagles erased a 36-21 fourth-quarter deficit and took a 40-36 lead in the final minute thanks to a Caleb Williams 11-yard touchdown pass to Sam Sweeney.

DeMatha's Dominic Logan-Nealy took the ensuing kickoff return for a touchdown to give DeMatha a 43-40 lead with 15 seconds left.

That left too much time on the clock for Williams, Gonzaga's 2021 quarterback, on his birthday.

On the final play of the game he hit John Marshall for a game-winning 53-yard touchdown with no time left as Gonzaga pulled off perhaps the craziest win of 2018.
The only other new team to join this week's Top 25 was New Jersey power Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.). The Crusaders improved to 10-1 after beating Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) 35-17 to advance to the Non-Public Group IV championship game for the second consecutive season. Up next for Bergen Catholic is St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.).
