Baseball Recap: South-Doyle Victorious

After losing to Heritage the last time they met, South-Doyle decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cherokees walked away with an 8-4 win over the Mountaineers on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cherokees.

Holden Lowe made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs. South-Doyle is 5-1 when Lowe posts two or more runs, but 9-15-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Gabe Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Fisher Jacobs was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

South-Doyle lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

South-Doyle's record now sits at 14-16-1. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-12.

Coming up, South-Doyle will challenge Soddy Daisy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage, they will face off against Red Bank at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
