Preview: Carroll Cougars vs. Tri-Central Trojans
The Carroll Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Tri-Central Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carroll will be strutting in after a win while Tri-Central will be coming in after a loss.
Carroll stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 72-32 victory over Eastern. Given Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Eastern is ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alli Harness, who scored 21 points along with nine assists and seven steals. Harness is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Wagner, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Tri-Central came up short against Rossville on Friday and fell 46-33. Tri-Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carroll has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Tri-Central, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-10.
Carroll strolled past Tri-Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 45-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carroll since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
