Baseball Recap: Heyworth's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Heyworth had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Peoria Heights Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Logan Mills spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Braydon Laesch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Parker Bell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The win (which was Heyworth's eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Peoria Heights, they dropped their record down to 4-21 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road.

As of now, neither Heyworth nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
