Basketball Recap: Newnan Takes a Loss

Newnan has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 60-52 to the Russell County Warriors on Monday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.

Russell County was led to victory by Jeron Mckenzie and Kingston Henry. Mckenzie went 6 of 13 en route to 16 points along with seven boards and six assists, while Henry posted eight points and 12 rebounds. Henry has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacorrian Roberts, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Newnan's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Russell County, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Newnan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-39 win against Heard County on the 3rd. As for Russell County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 78-70 victory against Pike Road on the 4th.
