Recap: Brookfield Warriors vs. LaBrae Vikings
The Brookfield Warriors were the 81-61 winner over the LaBrae Vikings when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Brookfield took a 65-49 bruising from LaBrae on Friday. While losing is never fun, Brookfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while LaBrae is ranked 129th).
Brookfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matteo Fortuna, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists. The match was Fortuna's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nevon Hoffman, who scored 14 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Brookfield and nudges their season record down to 4-5. As for LaBrae, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Brookfield will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Memorial at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Memorial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for LaBrae, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully LaBrae likes a good challenge.
