Basketball Recap: Tri-State Christian Takes a Loss

Tri-State Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by the Faith Christian Falcons 73-33. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 710th in Iowa, while the Falcons are ranked 254th in Illinois).

Despite the loss, Tri-State Christian still got an impressive performance from Sam Fernandes, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points. Nehemiah Smith was another key player, putting up six points.

Faith Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Bivins, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points and three steals. Bivins has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Schuler, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Tri-State Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Faith Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-State Christian will square off against East Moline Christian at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th. As for Faith Christian, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Faith Christian Falcons challenge the Christian Life Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Faith Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
