Basketball Recap: Lera Schmeink Key Part of a Team Effort in Indians/Lady Indians Win

Carlyle won the last time they faced Okawville and things went their way on Monday too. The Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians took down the Okawville Rockets 40-24.

Carlyle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lera Schmeink led the charge by going 6 for 8 en route to 13 points. Addie Gansauer was another key player, putting up nine points.

Carlyle was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Okawville only posted four assists.

Okawville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brynn Rhodes, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points, and Jilien Harre, who posted six points and three steals.

Carlyle's win bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Okawville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.

Carlyle will take on Glenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carlyle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. Okawville has already played their next game (against Waterloo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
