Preview: Eastern Hancock Royals vs. Parke Heritage Wolves
Two dominant guards in McKenzie Koch and Emma Simpson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Eastern Hancock Royals and the Parke Heritage Wolves will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eastern Hancock comes in on nine and Parke Heritage on 17.
Eastern Hancock put the finishing touches on their 17th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Indianapolis Scecina Memorial 67-11 on the road. While fans of Eastern Hancock might be used to big wins, the 56-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Eastern Hancock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ruby White led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Koch, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Parke Heritage extended their postseason success on Saturday against Greencastle. They came out on top against the Tiger Cubs by a score of 43-32. Given Parke Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Greencastle is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Addilee Jenkins went supernova for Parke Heritage, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Jenkins hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Simpson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Eastern Hancock's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39 points. As for Parke Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 23-3.
