 It was a good run, but  Lake Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their  three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Valparaiso Vikings by a score of  7-5. Lake Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Valparaiso apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in June of 2023.
  Parker Robinson was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Michael Szatkowski, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Even though they lost, Lake Central  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 14  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 On Valparaiso's side, they got a great performance from  Blake Shudick as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit over 7.1 innings pitched.
 On the hitting side,  Caden Crowell and  Trevor Fenters did most of the damage at the plate:  Crowell  scored a  run while  getting on base  in four of his six plate appearances, while  Fenters  went 3-for-6 with a  triple, two  RBI,  and a  run.  DJ Malloy was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 Lake Central now  has a losing record at 3-4. As for Valparaiso, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
 The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Lake Central by a score of  2-1.
