Basketball Recap: Maggie Lakin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kearney over Grandview

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Kearney lost 68-43 to Grandview. The defeat continues a trend for Kearney in their meetings with Grandview: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maggie Lakin, who posted eight points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Brooke Paalhar, who earned eight points and five assists.

Grandview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jada Smith, who went 9-for-17 en route to 26 points. Smith has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Lecia Martin was another key player, shooting 70% from the field on her way to 14 points and seven assists.

Kearney's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Grandview, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.

Kearney has already played their next matchup, a 62-26 victory against Winnetonka on the 27th. As for Grandview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-27 win against Smithville on the 27th.
