Recap: Buckeye Hawks vs. Youngker Roughriders
The Buckeye Hawks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 56-26 victory over Youngker at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Buckeye has posted against Youngker since February 11, 2020.
Leading Buckeye to victory were Amayah Leyva and Tia Chapman. Leyva scored 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Chapman scored 12 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Chapman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Isabel Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Buckeye is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Youngker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Buckeye will be playing in front of their home fans against Estrella Foothills at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Estrella Foothills' defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Buckeye's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Youngker, they will head out on the road to square off against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Glendale is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
