Recap: Northeast Jones Tigers vs. Quitman Panthers
After flying high against the Mendenhall Tigers last Friday, the Northeast Jones Tigers came back down to earth. Northeast Jones took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quitman. Northeast Jones has not had much luck with Quitman recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Northeast Jones' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diamond Robinson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Falasia Cooley, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quitman to victory, but perhaps none more so than AUDRIANA HARRIS, who scored 17 points. Jahyla Dubuse was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Northeast Jones has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Quitman, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Northeast Jones will take on Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Forest is ranked 83rd, while Northeast Jones is ranked 67th). As for Quitman, they will head out on the road to face off against Mendenhall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mendenhall is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
