Soccer Game Preview: Old Forge vs. Holy Cross

The Old Forge Blue Devils will take on the Holy Cross Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Old Forge has given up an average of 3.7 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Old Forge is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Western Wayne on Thursday. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4. While losing is never fun, Old Forge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Western Wayne are ranked 133rd).

Meanwhile, Holy Cross hadn't done well against Lakeland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Crusaders narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Chiefs 3-2. That's two games straight that Holy Cross have won by just one goal.

Liza Froncek and Sadie Pappas scored all three of Holy Cross' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Old Forge's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Holy Cross, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3-1.
